Current Events
Spring, 2002 - If you've followed this at all, you recall that last year we installed a new wood stove. This stove helped us save over $1000 on our LP bill this winter!
May 28, 2002 - After 16+ years of working at the MIS department of Lamb Technicon (www.unova.com), I've decided it's time to leave. The machine tool business in North America has taken an extreme turn for the worse, and may not ever recover. Due to the consolidation taking place within our parent company, most of the work has become data conversions. The handwriting appears to be on the wall, So I decided to be pro-active and look for a new position. Today I started working at Edcor (www.edcor.com). This is a completely different industry, and it is using current technology in web development (XML, XSLT, VB COM+, and SQL Server). Very interesting work! I'm there on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis and am looking forward to becoming a full employee. Of course, this job change means no summer vacation this year.
August 30, 2002 - After three months of working at Edcor, I was downsized! Edcor found out they didn't have the resources they thought they did, and all the contractors, plus some additional people were let go. So, for the first time since 1984, I'm unemployed. But I'm looking forward to what the Lord has in place for me next.
October 14, 2002 - I am now re-employed! After six weeks of unemployment, I have obtained a web development position with Romeo Computer Company, and their involvement in a project called LikeGlue (www.likeglue.com). This draws on skills I picked up at Edcor, so the job change has definitely been worth it! Again, I will be putting in long hard hours to get myself established in this company. Unfortunately that means little time in the shop.
